Think Sandwell (Sandwell Council's business network) is holding a free Breakfast Club on Thursday 26 March 2015. Organised in conjunction with the Black Country Growth Hub, the early morning meeting at the University of Wolverhampton will give you the chance to meet influential representatives from Carillion, HS2 and Centro.

The aim of Think Sandwell's Breakfast Club this month is to give local firms a chance to learn about:

* The exciting opportunities being generated by multimillion pound rail contracts coming to the region
* How they can improve their supply prospects and win new business.

Attendees will hear from special guest speakers:

* Paul Paddick, Head of Supply Chain for Carillion Rail
* Christina Wallace, newly appointed Senior Project Manager for HS2.

You’ll also get an update on the recently announced plans to build a Black Country Rail innovation hub and light railway route between Dudley Port (Tipton) and Dudley Town Centre.

Construction giant Carillion, which has its headquarters in Wolverhampton, is working with some of the biggest clients in UK rail including Crossrail and Network Rail to deliver a national railway infrastructure programme to maintain, renew and enhance thousands of miles of rail track over the next five years.

As part of a £25bn rail investment programme to develop a railway fit for the 21st century, Carillion is set to renew more than 7,000km of track across the Midlands into the North West, and from Kings Cross to the North East of England, covering everything from overground and underground track installation, major civil engineering works, signalling design projects, overhead line installations, station development and facilities management works.

During the breakfast meeting, which will take place at the University of Wolverhampton, you’ll get the chance to network with likeminded industry colleagues over breakfast. You can gain a valuable insight into opportunities within the rail supply chain and hear first hand what a major contractor looks for from suppliers.

You'll also hear from representatives from Carillion Rail who will talk about exciting opportunities for suppliers of all sizes.

During the morning Carillion’s buyers will be particularly interested in meeting with all manufacturers of rail- and construction-related products and specialist subcontractors with skills in mechanical & electrical (M&E) fit-outs, including in the following categories: lighting, switchgear, fire prevention and alarms, air handling and air conditioning, ductwork, and cables and cable accessories. Plus civil engineers, rail engineers and industry technologists. If you’re interested in having a brief one-to-one meeting with a Carillion buyer during the morning, please let the organisers know when you sign up.

The March Breakfast Club takes place on Thursday 26 March 2015 from 6:45am to around 9am at the University of Wolverhampton, Glaisher Drive, Wolverhampton Science Park, Wolverhampton WV10 9RT (you can park here for free). It costs nothing to attend (and includes tea, coffee, a hot breakfast and plenty of networking opportunities). You can sign up by emailing stephen_massey@sandwell.gov.uk with your details (and be sure to tell him if you’d like to apply for a one-to-one meeting with the Carillion team). Think Sandwell is expecting this event to be fully booked so please sign up quickly.
