There are just days to go until the Advanced Engineering UK group of events at
the NEC. This years show will see the official launch of the Black Country
Bullet a virtual car comprised entirely of components designed and
manufactured in the Black Country. On
Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 November 2013, Advanced Engineering UK is returning
to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Combining five advanced
engineering events under one roof, with more than 600 specialist exhibitors and
over 200 speakers, it promises to be the biggest show of its kind yet.
To showcase the Black Countrys world-class engineering supply chain to
the thousands of national and international delegates in attendance, Invest
Black Country and Business Birmingham are going to use the event to launch the
Black Country Bullet.
This is a virtual high-performance car made
entirely from precision components by Black Country automotive suppliers.
Wayne Langford is Head of Investment at Invest Black Country which has
the strapline Built in the Black Country sold around the world. Mr Langford
said it is time to cast an international spotlight on the regions unrivalled
automotive supply chain.
The creation of the Black Country Bullet shows
that almost an entire car can be built with components, expertise and technology
found solely in the Black Country, he said. We have double the number of
advanced manufacturing companies than the national average, so our supply chain
offers a complete solution to any automotive firm looking to set up shop here.
This is a vibrant, diverse and geographically well-connected place to do
business.
Prestigious original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as
Jaguar Land Rover, JCB, BMW, Bentley and Aston Martin already have extensive
supply chains in the area. Thanks to the Black Countrys reputation for being an
engineering centre of excellence, Wolverhampton was Jaguar Land Rovers location
of choice for its new £500m engine plant.
Id urge delegates to visit
us at Invest Black Country and Business Birminghams pavilion this year, said
Mr Langford. Well be exhibiting alongside Jaguar Land Rover, demonstrating how
the Black Country, with its established supply chain, was the obvious choice to
support JLRs Just in time, just in sequence strategy for
components.
The Black Country Bullet will be officially launched at the
show by Matt Neal, three times British Touring Car Champion with Honda Yuasa
Works. Matt is
also Marketing Director for Black Country-based Rimstock Plc, which
manufactures high-end products for the motorsport industry and luxury vehicle
companies such as Aston Martin, Lotus, Jaguar and Bentley.
